TO REALLY LOVE A WOMAN

Sometimes when I sit and cull (pick) through my photos before I start with the big detailed edits, an image jumps out at me that didn’t initially catch my attention.

This image captured my heart because of so many reasons.

Firstly, the obvious connection one makes is to either the Virgin Mary or Mary Magdalene. Both women by the side of Jesus. And during the time of Christmas, I often wonder about the real role and background story of the woman in Jesus’ life. Something that is conveniently veiled by most religions today. What kind of woman were they? What impact did they have on one of the most well-known figures in the history of mankind? And why are women so often expressing themselves as a helper or co-star, instead of the main character in their own story?

Secondly, it connects my heart deeply with the soft, nurturing nature of the female mother archetype. I know the lady in the photo quite well, and even this image, it’s showing me yet a different layer of who she is.

During Christmas, those who choose to do so, celebrate the birth of a little boy named Jesus. A little baby, from a mother who is still revered for the fact that she give birth to a miraculous little being, who brought us the message that we have endless potential!

May we celebrate the special woman who stands in a “supporting role” behind their more masculine partners this summer.

May women find a favourable balance between compassion, caring and nurture versus the pursuit of their own goals and unique purpose on this earth!

May women of all walks of life RISE this summer!
